Time Management and Note-Taking

Please read Chapters III and IV of Dragons. Of the planning, time management, and note-taking advice here, what do you think will be most important for you personally? In which of these areas are you already fairly strong? Where do you need work?

  1. I think actually time management it's self will be difficult for me with my five classes, 2 jobs and clubs. I think getting it down to the T will be the most difficult part but I will have to have very strong will and very organized work ethics.
I am fairly strong in studying and taking the time to listen and do my homework because I oddly enjoy school and though most came for a social experience I came mostly to be back behind a desk.

  2. The most important advice that I found in chapters III and IV, was to find my own way to organize my notes. In your History 152 class, I learned to put marks next to ID's and different marks next to information that would apply to that essay question. In my opinion, I am now fairly good at note taking thanks to your class. (That was quite the brown-noser comment...)
The advice on time management seemed very useful. Although, I have always like to start things with a game-plan. I like to know a general outline or even exactly what I will be doing for that particular day. Staying organized is a must for me.
I would say that I need work staying on task. I tend to get distracted by other homework and various tasks and only get things about halfway finished. Eventually, I come back to it, but I should learn how to manage doing one thing at a time.

  3. I have enough time I just need to use it better. It is very hard to just start a task but once I get going it is easier. I personally I good at taking notes I have always wrote them by hand and I found it better than on the computer like you were talking about. I feel my notes may not be the right notes for others like it said in the book listen for clues of what to right some kids at school copied every single word the teacher said and wrote down everything on the board when I would write down maybe two sentences and the two sentences that I wrote was all that was important everything else was filler.
I am strong at note taking and focusing on what the teacher is saying.
I could use more work on time management. It took me about an hour till I decided to do the reading. I want to be involved but I don't want to be over involved and lose sight of what is important and that is making sure i get everything out of class that I can get.

  4. For me, taking notes is fairly easy. Note taking was ingrained into me throughout high school. The problems I face come with studying. I have never really had to study to get through high school and I know that I am going to need to study in college. I feel like I am completely unprepared in this regard. I hope that we cover studying skills at some point, I could definitely use some tips.

  5. The most important thing for me in this chapter is note taking. I came from a high school that did not have much to do with taking notes. We were told notes would be good but we were never actually told we need to take notes. Something else I need to work on is time management. I have time to do everything I need to do, I just need to do it.

  6. Something important to me is note taking. I usually try to write all the things that sound important or interesting down as quick as i can and still pay attention to the next thing being said. I like when notes are written down on a board to copy. I'm pretty good with paying attention and taking notes but it's nice to know more about what is more relevant to take down.I need to work on my time management skills a bit so I can get homework done more efficiently and have more time to check it over afterwards.

  7. I think the most important thing for me to do personally is note taking. In many of the classes I have taken and done really well in are the classes that I have taken accurate notes I which helped me greatly with tests. I think note taking is one of the things I am strong at. I would probably need work on just knowing right are the important things to write down and what not to since I cant write it all down.

  8. The most important thing for me I think would be my study habits and doing homework in general. I tend to put things off a lot and that has never worked out for me. Note taking isn't too bad, I'm decent at that. I just need to learn how to stop procrastinating certain things.

  9. My hardest thing would probably have to be my study habits in high school I never studied I did decent as a student, but I believe college will change that my time management is great with 17 credits 5 clubs and cheer team I doing great and for notes my notes may be scrambled but I can figure them out easier so I great in that department

  10. The most important thing I must do is organize my time more efficiently so I'm not overworking myself. I'm strong in sitting down and getting to do my tasks effectively. I'm weak in my note taking skills due to meaningless data I seem to collect.

  11. The most important thing that I must do is learn how to organize my notes and review them after I write them. I have a tendency to wait until the day before the test and then it is too late to review everything.

  12. In general note taking is pretty natural for me, I enjoy writing notes for my classes so I am able to review the lecture when ever I want to study. Time management on the other hand can be difficult for me. I am easily side tracked and can also get distracted. But my taking strong notes I am able to review and be a successful student.
